Hysteria

The Hysteria Comedy Open Mic is a vibrant event specifically designed for women and queer individuals, offering a supportive and inclusive environment for comedians to showcase their talents. Held at the SF Eagle, a hub for the Leather and Kink communities in San Francisco, this event occurs every second Wednesday of the month from 7 PM to 9 PM PDT ​​. Organized by Team Wonder Dave Productions, Hysteria encourages the participation of the ladies, gays, and theys of the SF bay area comedy scene, aiming to highlight and support these voices by providing a stage to hone comedic skills​​.

Attendees are offered a chance to perform by signing up upon arrival, with slots allocated for 5 minutes of stage time. Sign-ups start at 6:45 PM, just before the show begins. Not only is the event a fantastic opportunity for budding and experienced comedians to work out new material, but it also serves as a delightful night of inclusive comedy, free for participants and audience members alike. The Queer and Women's Open Mic at All Out Comedy Theater is a monthly event, hosted by Able Gender, aimed at providing a supportive and safe space for women-identifying and queer performers. It takes place on the last Sunday of each month at 6:30pm, with both odd-numbered pre-signups available online and in-person signups starting at 6pm.

Admission is free if you want to go up or just watch & support, and the venue is located at 2550 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, CA. This event is an excellent opportunity for community members to watch, support, and participate in performances that celebrate diversity and inclusivity .

The Bay Area’s newest Open Mic, Comedy Q, gets started on April 1st, 2024 - yes really. This April, the fools are flocking to the White Horse Inn, an iconic venue that's been a beacon for the LGBTQ+ community amidst the historical tides of activism and social change in the Bay Area. Hosted by Tanna Samone, a comedian deeply rooted in the landscapes of San Francisco and Oakland, Comedy Q offers a platform where the humor is rich with the nuances of gender, race, and sexuality. Tanna, leveraging her personal journey and keen observations, aims to spotlight the laughter that bridges the gap between tragedy and comedy, celebrating the resilience and diversity of queer experiences.

Every first Monday, Comedy Q transforms the historic White Horse Inn into a vibrant stage for queer voices and laughter. This venue, renowned for its legacy of inclusivity and defiance in the face of social adversities, provides the perfect backdrop for an open mic that’s as much about comedy as it is about community and connection.

Vocal AF

Vocal A.F. at Queer Arts Featured is a vibrant platform for queer self-expression through acoustic, a cappella, or spoken word performances. Hosted by the inclusive House Ganuush, it welcomes all queer adults to share their unique stories in 5-minute acts. This event emphasizes a safe, respectful space, free from discrimination or disrespectful behavior. With a $10 suggested donation the event is one of many put on as a fund raiser for Queer Arts Featured and a policy of not turning anyone away for lack of funds, it's a significant addition to the Castro's queer arts scene, located in a historic venue with deep ties to Harvey Milk.

Vocal A.F. emphasizes a respectful and inclusive atmosphere, clearly stating a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination, disrespect, or intoxication - the later in an effort to make the event accessible to those who would otherwise be unable to attend. It's designed as a platform for diverse queer expressions, ensuring a safe space for everyone. When signing up to perform, participants are encouraged to communicate with the hosts about any content that could potentially trigger audiences, maintaining the event's welcoming environment.
